POONHILL is one of the most famous viewpoints in the world and a very suitable moderate type of trekking in the Annapurna Himalayan region. Being the most picturesque short trek in Nepal, it offers you unreal mountain scenery that leaves you breathless.
Along the path there are rest points, water taps, fountains, rivers etc. The scenery is overwhelming with lovely Nepali people around. Almost everyone greets you with a smile and “Namaste”. On the way to your everyday destination you stop for lunch where you get so many different food varieties. Few times you enter into the cloudy forests which is a magical place with mossy trees and running brooks.
From Pokhara there is one and half hour of drive to Nayapul where our trek starts. We hike for the next 2 days to Ghorepani which used to be a rest point where ancient traders found water (“pani” in Nepali) for their horses (“ghoda” in Nepali). You will experience sunrise at Poon Hill with breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks of the Annapurna Sanctuary including Gangapurna, Annapurna South, Annapurna First, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Fishtail, Hiunchuli and more. Along the trail you will also hike through bamboo and rhododendron forest – in March/April, it will be in full bloom. Enjoy walking on rugged trails, crossing small beautiful mountain streams, green hills that overlook the white Himalayan peaks and eventually watch the sunrise and sunset over the Annapurna mountain range. Enjoy the energizing fresh mountain air while you are totally enthralled with the breathtaking views of the dramatic Annapurna and Fishtail range. Hiking in the serene mountains is truly a blessing. The sense of joy that comes while seeing the snow-capped mountains & merging with yogic practices are so fulfilling. On top, yogic snacks, yogic relaxation, meditation & sharing ideas make everything feel so great & unique. The breathtaking scenery, beautiful ethnic diversity and villages justify the popularity of this trek. It’s easy, not far away and involves no high climbing.
