MARDI HIMAL TREK (4,500m) is one of the latest trekking routes in the Annapurna region. It is located at the East of Annapurna Base Camp under the spectacular Machhapuchhre and was opened for tourists in 2011/12. It keeps you away from the big crowd and allows to immerse in the silence of nature. Unbelievable views of Annapurna South (7,219m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Hiunchuli (6,441m), Manaslu ranges, Mardi Himal Base Camp, Dadal Danda, Ghandruk/Lwang village as well as the cultural beauties are the major attractions where you pass through rich natural diversities, beautiful forests, rocky hills, misty clouds, stone built traditional villages, chirping birds, rhododendron forests and more.

The forest path continues till 3,300m when the trail takes on a rugged mountain setting with the spectacular views of Mardi Himal and other mountains. There is Low Camp with probably the best view of Machhapuchhre in Nepal. The High Camp is at 3,580m from where again wonderful views of The Annapurna Base Camp and other mountain peaks can be enjoyed closely.

There are various trails to Mardi Himal Base Camp. From Deurali trekkers follow a trekking route to the Forest Camp passing through forest of rhododendrons and timber-woods. The new trail to Low Camp lies in the jungle and ends in the open ridge following the route to High Camp which is second last stop before Mardi Himal Base Camp. It is best to rest at Low and High Camp to rest, enjoy and fully absorb the beauty of it which also helps in acclimatization so no altitude sickness. It takes only 4 hours trekking from High Camp to reach the Mardi Himal Base Camp. There are many teahouses/lodges along the trail.
